5/1/12
The Class of 2012 has started its finishing lap of its 8th grade year. As the Apostle Paul reminds us, we run in a way to gain the prize. He is talking about our faith. Certainly, we will keep working hard learning, reflecting, and living God's Word. However, we will also apply our faith life on how we finish this year academically and socially.
Academically, the students are continuing to think about ethical issues in their Christ Light series. This week's topic is war. We also have begun a biography unit. Students are reading about Picasso, Paul McCartney, Einstein, Anne Frank, Tesla and the list goes on. Please ask your scholar how the person in their biography is like and unlike them.
This week the students will be revising, editing and publishing a personal narrative. Next week we will start to tackle our last three writing projects: compose a short story, publish a poetry anthology, and complete a research project.
The students have become more knowledgeable about how power is generated and ends up powering our TVs and refrigerators. I don't think they will ever look at a wire the same again. We will leave electricity for a while a move back to the theory of all types of waves.
The students were given information about our final field experience to Devil's Lake. Thanks for considering whether you can drive to help us reach our destination. May 4th the volunteer sheet is due.
The Lord's Blessings,
Mr. Gurgel
