Mr. Gurgel was born in South Windsor, Connecticut and soon his family moved to Lake Mills, WI. In Lake Mills, he attended St. Paul Elementary School and Lakeside Lutheran High School. After graduating from Martin Luther College in 1997, he explored forestry and other interests before pursuing an education degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. From 2000-2005 he spent his time as an instructor, coach, and dorm supervisor at Michigan Lutheran Seminary. He began his ministry at St. Lucas during the 2006 school year, and currently serves as the 8th grade classroom teacher and language arts instructor for the 6th & 7th grade. In the summer of 2010, he earned a Masters of Arts in Education from Mount Mary College after finishing the Urban Education Fellows Program though Alverno and Mount Mary College. When not spending his time as a student or teacher in the education profession, Bart enjoys restoring his Milwaukee bungalow, backpacking, running, and reading.
