Classroom News

January 15:

In Christ Light, we continue to learn about the Israelites' conquest for the Promised Land. God is an amazing provider for His people!

In math, we continue to work on our multiplication and division skills. Using four operations has really expanded our math knowledge and makes us feel smart!!

In reading, we journey with Little Willy to try and save his farm in "Stone Fox." It is our second novel as a class, and we enjoy working through chapter books together.

In language, we are working on pronouns and becoming better writers by practicing our descriptions!

In social studies, we are learning about the midwest, and in science we are dealing with matter.

Enjoy winter (now that it's finally here...) and don't forget to bring warm clothes for winter weather!!

 

October 15:

In Christ Light, we are learning about how God leads our lives, and his plans are for our good through the lives of Jacob and Joseph.

-Joseph is Sold by His Brothers-Joseph in Potiphar's House and in Prison-Joseph is Made Ruler-The First Journey of Joseph's Brothers-

In math, we are continuing to work on addition and subtraction of skills with larger numbers, with a focus on regrouping.

In reading, we finished our first class novel, Charlotte's Web.

In science, we are looking at space.

We will complete, and present our first out of class projects. Come and see our Biography Projects at OrgSmorg!!

 

September 30:

Fall is in full swing in 3rd grade! The leaves are changing colors, and we are falling into our routine!

In Christ Light, we are learning different account of faith.

-Jacob Deceives Isaac-Jacob's Flight and Vision-Jacob and Laban-Jacob's Return Home-

In math, we are using our addition and subtraction skills with more complex problems and bigger numbers.

In reading, we continue to see how Wilbur's relationship with Fern and Charlotte change as we see if Charlotte can save "Zuckerman's Famous Pig."

In Language, we are working on writing, editing, and publishing a personal narrative.

In science we are going to start studying space, and in Social Studies we are learning how life in the Northeast long ago is different from life now.

We are working on our first big project, our Biography Projects! Come see them at the OrgSmorg on October 21st!!

 

September 15:

Almost a month done with school! We have been busy in 3rd grade, and are finally getting back into the routine!

In Christ Light, we are going to be spending a few weeks learning about Abraham and his family. What a great example of faith for us to learn from!!

-God Promises Abraham a Son-God Answers Abraham's Prayer- God Tests Abraham's Faith-A Wife for Issac-

In math, we are reviewing and learning addition and subtraction patterns and strategies as well as fine tuning our mental math skills.

In reading, we continue to follow the development and change of Wilbur as a character in Charlotte's Web.

In Language, we will be taking a closer look at nouns.

In social studies and science, we continue to examine the earth : What is it made of? Who lives here? Why??

We hope to be enriched by the added worship and study opportunities of the fall emphasis TAKE THE LORD AT HIS WORD that started this past week!

 

 

September 1:

Welcome to 3rd grade! We have had a great start to our year so far!

In Christ Light, we will learning about Noah and Abraham as well as ways God showed grace and mercy to people long ago.

-The Flood- The Tower of Babel- Abraham Trusts God- Abraham and Lot-

In math we are working on place value and money.

In reading we are starting our first chapter book as a class, Charlotte's Web.

In Language we are working on sentence types and writing our own personal narrative.

In science and social studies we look at regions of the earth and the landforms in them.
