Ministry News from the Board of Christian Education.

Board of Christian Education Leadership Changes

We thank the Lord for the strong lay leadership of the men who serve us on the Board of Christian Education BOCE). The members of the BOCE are: Mr. Corey Tipton (chairman), Mr. Brian Gillingham (adult discipleship), Mr. Joseph Jozefacki (LES), Mr. John Wood (ECM), Mr. Rick Bremer (children’s ministries), and Mr. Paul Tremaine (youth). Your gifts of time and talent blessings to us all!

On June 30, Mr. Rick Bremer will complete his service to the Kingdom as member of the BOCE. We praise God for the gifts He has given us in Mr. Bremer. We thank Mr. Bremer for his gifts of time and talent.

Mr. Robert Schneider has submitted his name to serve on the BOCE beginning July 1. Lord willing, his area of ministry would be adult discipleship. Mr. Brian Gillingham would move his attention to children’s ministry responsibilities. Remember these servants of Christ regularly in your prayers!

Board Sends Recommendation to Council

After 2 years of faithful service, David and Amanda Tess are stepping down from their responsibilities as youth minister at St. Lucas. Under their leadership, this ministry has been a blessing to the young people of St. Lucas. Through Bible Study, fellowship, and service projects, teens are increasingly engaged in congregational life. We thank them for their service!

At the August 10 Board of Christian Education meeting, board members discussed options. The recommendation to council is that we search for two individuals to fill our ministry needs. One adult from within the congregation to serve youth in the social and service aspects of the ministry. One Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary student or Wisconsin Lutheran College student to lead Bible Study and serve the youth in spiritual aspects of the ministry. The two will be asked to work together at each youth function.

School Committee Established

The Board of Christian Education has established a charter for a Lutheran Elementary School (LES) Committee to handle the 5-year School Improvement Plan. The School Improvement Plan (SIP) was completed as part of the accreditation process and submitted to the WELS Commission on Lutheran Schools. The annual action plan for for the 10-11 school year includes a review of safety procedures and protocol and a study on benefits and limitations of the cost based-needs based tuition model among other objectives. A copy of the SIP is available in the school office for families of the LES and congregation.

Mr. Adam Bielke, Mrs. Margaret Wolski, and Mr. Michael Helzer, serve on the committee. We are thankful for the team the Lord has assembled for us. Mr. Bielke served on the 5-year planning task force. He has a context for all the objectives in the SIP, Mrs. Wolski has a Masters Degree in Education, and Mr. Michael Helzer is a business man who has business experience in carrying out annual action plans.

Join me in praying of their success! The Lord has plans for us to share the gospel truth with children and families through the LES. He says so: Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Christian Education Sunday

Christian Education Sunday is coming! Sunday, August 22 at 10:45am Miss Joanna Jacobsen will be installed as our new 1st grade teacher. There will be a brunch following the meal in the school gym. This will be a time to meet and greet Miss Jacobsen, new families to our school, and reconnect with folks after some time away from school. Classrooms will be open at 1pm and students may bring school supplies to place in desks.
