Reading Philosophy

St. Lucas is committed to developing purposeful readers by explicitly teaching the tools of a reader: knowledge of phonics, structure of language, meaning of words, and specific comprehension skills. A St. Lucas student is prepared to and understand God's Word. Additionally, a St. Lucas student is exposed to a variety of literature and different types of media so that they may evaluate them from a Christian perspective.
