Social Studies Philosophy
Social Studies is included in the curriculum of St. Lucas Lutheran School. It is presented through education in the areas of history, civics, geography, economics, and current events. Social studies provide students with a context for understanding the structure and processes of the world in which they live and their place in it as redeemed children of God.
* History is the telling of His Story. God's guiding hand is seen through the course of human events.
* Civics prepares children for their future roles as Christian leaders and responsible citizens.
* Geography demonstrates the influence of God's creation on diverse human cultures.
* Economics provides opportunity to grow in stewardship of resources placed in our care.
* Current Events helps children better understand how history, civics, geography and economics shape lives today.
