A Brief Summary of the Milwaukee Cares Mask Ordinance as it applies to attendees of in-person worship:

  • Ages 3 and older required to wear a face covering when inside a public place and when around people that do not live in their household.
  • Face covering must be worn when outside within 6 feet of another person not in their household.
  • Exceptions to this rule may include anyone with a medical condition, mental health condition, developmental disability, known upper respiratory chronic condition, and other silent disabilities.

Special note from the Reopening Committee: We anticipate a long-term adjustment to services to take place beginning early August and continuing forward into the fall.  These adjustments may include things like a small time change for some worship services or the possible addition of a service time with greater restrictions.  During the next few weeks as the Church Council and leadership evaluate and refine these and other possible worship changes, please reach out to any member of leadership or contact the church office directly with your feedback and thoughts on what makes our worship experience especially uplifting and what might need some improvement.  Thank you.

Dear Saint Lucas Family,

It is time.  It is time to see what the next chapter in this story looks like.  Throughout this crisis, many of us had mental images of returning to church in celebration and getting back to normal.  We now recognize that this celebration will happen in phases.  We look to our Savior for strength and are reminded of His words in Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.  Let the confidence we have then carry us into the new and unfamiliar as we show love for our neighbor who is nervous, respect for the leaders God has given us, and patience for all as we experience this new chapter together.

These plans are subject to change at any time as we continue to evaluate and improve our worship service within safety guidelines.

  • Worship services will continue to be livestreamed at 9:30 a.m. on Sundays.
  • We will offer two in-person worship services each weekend:
    • Saturday at 5 p.m. (Mask-requiredl)
    • Sunday at 11 a.m. (Mask-required)
  • A mask or face covering is required when attending worship and must be kept on at all times when inside the building.  Please bring your own, however, if you forget, a small number of clean new masks will be available.
  • Social distancing measures will be implemented for arrival, seating and departure.
    • Seating in the church will be spaced using empty rows of pews between rows of worshippers, and distance between family units/individuals sitting in the same pew.
    • Enter the church through the front (K.K.) middle entrance. Ushers will be there to assist and guide you through the process.
    • If needed, please use the restroom before entering the church sanctuary, and if possible, please refrain from moving about the building.
    • If you need to get up for whatever reason during the service, please use the aisle closest to you.  Do not cross over other people in your pew.
    • The lower level is available for restrooms and as a place to take children who need a break.
    • At the end of the service, please wait for the ushers to dismiss your pew.  They will begin in the back of church and dismiss out the center aisle and will alternate sides to maintain proper social distancing.
  • In order to avoid social contact involving objects, we will not be using hymnals, Bibles, or the friendship registers.
  • Offering baskets will be available at the exits for contributions or you may continue to give via Faithstreet or by mail.
  • Please dispose of your paper worship folder in the provided receptacles as you leave.
  • The church common areas including the sanctuary, restrooms, and the essential parts of the lower level will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized between each worship service.
  • Please do not attend worship if you are sick.
    • Please do not attend worship if you have these symptoms: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea. Please do not attend worship if you have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 14 days.

There will be some who are affected by this plan in different ways than others. Our goal will be to stay connected with everyone in whatever way we can, including those who can not be with us in person.  Please continue to communicate with our church staff about how we may best serve you.
